One from the Heart is an independent company based in Athens, Greece focusing on film distribution, programming, and consulting. One from the Heart works in association with independent filmmakers, cinemas, film festivals and film societies. Our primary aim is to promote unique independent filmmaking from around the world in festivals and cinemas alike. To achieve this, One from the Heart distributes and curates films to promote diversity in exhibition content, audience and location, developing a culturally – led approach towards an economically sustainable independent production and exhibition. Our key activities are: film programming, producing and distributing, press promotion and consultancy on film festivals and sales agents.
Lefteris Adamidis worked for six years (2005 – 2010) as the Artistic Director of the Independence Days section of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, where he curated retrospectives of Apichatpong Weerasathekul, Ousmane Sembene, Jan Svankmajer, Terence Davies and Mikio Naruse, among others. He also curated a program of silent films accompanied by live music commissioned especially for the occasion and performed by local musicians. He was also member of the International Competition selection committee, and worked as the editor of several festival publications and as the coordinator of round table discussions. In 2009, he collaborated with the Austin Film Society as an advisor to the Greek Film Series. Before Thessaloniki, Lefteris was the Programming Director of the Athens International Film Festival (2002-2004). He has been a regular contributor to Cinema magazine since 1999 and he has also worked as the programming director of Athinais cinema in 2003. He has been a regular festivals attendee either as a press or industry guest since 2002. He is currently collaborating with the Edinburgh Film Festival as program advisor.
Sofia Angelidou has studied Media and Communication in Athens and History of Film and Visual Media in London, where she worked as an intern at the Programme Unit of the British Film Institute. Later on she worked at the Greek Film Center, in film production and at the Association of Greek Independent Audiovisual Producers. From 2005 till 2010 she worked at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, coordinating the masterclasses and the music events, handling the presence of the vip and international jury guests, to name just a few among various duties and activities. In 2013 she became a Berlinale Talent Campus alumni.
